- ✓2 medium apples, cored and thinly sliced
- ✓1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- ✓1 tablespoon olive oil
- ✓1/2 cup water
- ✓1 teaspoon dried thyme labeled gluten free
- ✓1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- ✓1/2 teaspoon salt
- ✓Black pepper to taste
LET'S COOK
Directions
- 1Wash hands before and after handling the raw pork, keep it separate from the produce, and sanitize the work area
- 2Pat the pork chops dry and season both sides with half the thyme, half the garlic powder, half the salt, and pepper
- 3Heat the oil in a large lidded skillet over medium-high heat
- 4Brown the pork chops for 2–3 minutes per side, then move them to a clean plate
- 5Add the cabbage, apples, onion, water, and remaining seasonings to the skillet and stir well
- 6Cover, reduce the heat to medium, and cook 10 minutes, stirring once
- 7Nestle the pork chops into the cabbage mixture, cover, and cook 6–10 minutes more until the vegetables are tender and every chop reaches 145°F in the thickest part
- 8Let the pork rest for 3 minutes, then serve one chop with one-fourth of the apple-cabbage mixture per person
- 9Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours and use within 3–4 days
